Rise/Sink/Float Week 5

Each week, we preview teams that are moving up and moving down in our weekly Football Relativity comparison. We’ll analyze all 32 teams on Tuesday. We’re going southern style this week, focusing on teams from the AFC and NFC South divisions.

Rise – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Buccaneers moved to 3-1 with a huge 24-21 road win against the Bengals. Late interceptions by Aqib Talib and Sabby Piscitelli led to 10 fourth-quarter points as Josh Freeman once again led a huge comeback for the win. Tampa has a lot of young talent, and that talent is learning to win. They may yet be factors in the NFC South.

Sink – Houston Texans – The Texans blew their second-straight home game in a blowout 34-10 loss to the Giants. They fell behind early and had no chance of stopping the Giants’ passing game. Houston is 3-2, but losing home games to the Giants and the Cowboys isn’t a good sign that they’ll be contenders over the long haul.

Float – Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jaguars got a 36-26 road win at Buffalo to move to 3-2, but a win against the Bills isn’t a great statement about the Jaguars’ talent. Jacksonville has been tough at home, and getting a road win aids any playoff hopes. But we’ll have to see it against a team that’s not a bottom-feeder before we believe it.
