Suicide Pool Suggestions Week 5

The Titans coughed up a lead and cost us a perfect season last week. Let’s start another streak.

Mario Williams of the Texans

1. Texans over Giants – Houston is 3-1, and they get OLB Brian Cushing back this week. The Giants got a win last week, but they’ve looked really bad on the road, and they’re playing a more talented team this week. In a week with a lot of close matchups, this is the most attractive option to avoid elimination.

2. Bengals over Buccaneers – The Bengals are coming off a stinker of a performance against the Browns last week, and that’s the reason we can’t move the Bengals up to the top spot. The Bucs are 2-1, but in their one game against top competition, they were blown out by the Steelers. So our hunch is that the Bengals will win, but we’re not willing to bet the farm on it.

3. Ravens over Broncos – We can’t pick against the Broncos after last week’s debacle, but it’s hard to see them going into Baltimore and putting up enough points against the top-flight Ravens D to get a win.

Trap to avoid – Lions vs. Rams – You might be tempted to get really cute and pick the Lions at home against the Rams, but the Rams have won two straight and have played tough most of the season. Detroit has played well too, but they have lost so many close games that it’s easy to envision them losing in the final minutes of this one, even though it’s at home.

Results
Week 4 – L Tennessee (vs. Denver)
Week 3 – W Baltimore (over Cleveland)
Week 2 – W Oakland (over St. Louis)
Week 1 – W N.Y Giants (over Carolina)
