In Week Two, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rallied back from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-20. And while it didn’t lead to a score, part of the rally was a surprise onside kick by Michael Koenen. Koenen, the former Falcon who was the Buccaneers’ biggest external free agent signing this year, executed the onside kick in the third quarter after the Buccaneers scored their first touchdown. Elbert Mack recovered the onside kick. “We didn’t score, necessarily, but it gave us enough momentum to go and win that football game,” Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said.

On five kickoffs, Koenen had two touchdowns, pinned the Vikings inside the 10-yard line twice, and successfully executed the onside kick. That’s a fine performance, but it’s the surprise onside kick that makes Koenen the Crazy Kicker of Week 2.
